Hello from the farm.
I’m AJ. I’m an agronomist, but this journal isn’t going to read like a field report.
I started AJ’s Roots & Harvest to share the side of farm life that doesn’t fit neatly into a spreadsheet: the animals, the crops, the food, the odd jobs and the plans that need changing halfway through the day. There’s plenty of work behind it all, of course. Here, I want to tell the stories.

The photos on this site are from my farm in Portugal. You’ll see sheep and lambs, rows of new growth, greens in the garden and bread coming out of the oven. They’re a starting point, not a promise that every day looks picturesque. Some days are muddy, some are slow, and some are funny only after you’ve dealt with them.
What comes next?
Small updates as the seasons change, more photos, and the stories behind them when I have them to tell. No grand lessons forced out of every job. If something makes me laugh, surprises me or simply deserves to be remembered, it belongs here. The kitchen beds and the old oven have their own place in The Backyard.
Welcome to the farm. Pull up a chair—just check it for dust first.
